Mensing, Colorado SpringsHey David, thanks for getting us going this week. If Javonte Williams is healthy, he’s No. 1 on the depth chart. The question is what exactly his work load will look like come Week 1. Williams was in pads with the rest of the Broncos on Monday, though the team didn’t do any live tackling as it transitions into fully padded work. Williams and Samaje Perine figure to be the top pair, but the No. 3 job is shaping up to be interesting. Tony Jones Jr. has experience and has played for coach Sean Payton in the past, but keep an eye on college free agent Jaleel McLaughlin. He and Tyler Badie each have burst and big-play ability.Rosters fluctuate and flex over the course of a season, but Denver’s cleanest configuration to start the season when it cuts down to 53 players from...Paul Reubens completed 1st draft of memoir before his death, publicist confirms

I’ve never once driven past the kitschy dinosaur statues on the side of Interstate 10 in Cabazon without thinking of Pee-wee Herman.Or seen a vintage red Schwinn DX bicycle without picturing the mischievous man-child character created by actor Paul Reubens.Or heard the classic instrumental “Tequila” without picturing Pee-wee in his white loafers dancing on a bar top to the cheers of burly bikers.Reubens, who created the Pee-wee Herman character as part of the Groundlings comedy troupe in Los Angeles in the late ’70s, died Sunday, July 30, and the world is a less colorful, funny, weird, and wonderful place for his passing. But Pee-wee Herman will never really die. With the work Reubens’ created – from the impishly, inappropriately Pee-wee of his birth at the Groundlings comedy troupe in the late ’70s to the more mainstream, and slightly better behaved, Pee-wee of movies such as “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure” and five seasons of “Pee-wee’s Playhouse” – we’ll always have Pee-wee Herman to ma...Police: Man fled Southern California collision dies when car crashes again

By Alex Tanzi | BloombergUS homeowners are nearly twice as willing to sell if their mortgage rate is 5% or higher, but just one in five mortgaged homes meet that criteria. For those who have a mortgage rate of at least 5%, 38% said they’re planning on selling their homes, according to a quarterly survey by Zillow. Just 21% of holders with rates below that dividing line said the same.Existing-home sales have fallen almost every month since the start of last year as higher mortgage rates disincentivize owners from moving. Prospective buyers have sought out new construction instead since inventory on the resale market is so low.About 80% of mortgage holders reported having a rate of less than 5%, and about 90% have a rate of less than 6%, Zillow said. Almost a third reported a rate of less than 3%.Mortgage rates “are unlikely to return to 5% in the near future,” said Orphe Divounguy, a senior economist at Zillow Home Loans. “That means many homeowners will move only for major life event...Barabak: Trump’s Big Lie and the Republican Etch A Sketch strategy

Some things are so obvious, they scarcely bear mention.Birds fly. Fish swim. Politicians say things they hope will get them elected. That’s not as terrible as it might sound.Candidates could have the most ingenious proposal to, say, banish poverty and end hunger, but what good is that if they can’t win office and at least try to implement their vision? There is, however, an important qualitative difference between telling voters what they’d like to hear or dialing an issue up or down depending on the audience and knowingly, calculatedly telling a flat-out lie.Donald Trump lost the 2020 election. That is an incontrovertible fact. And yet for many Republicans — including most of those seeking the party’s 2024 nomination — Trump’s irrefutable loss and direct responsibility for the Jan. 6 insurrection are a verity they dodge and duck.At least right now.Florida’s flailing governor, Ron DeSantis offers a prime example. The won’t-back-down-culture warrior, who gleefully stoops to swat at teach...Latest news
