BERLIN (AP) — Assia Gorban was 7 years old when the Germans occupied her hometown of Mogilev-Podolsky in Ukraine. The Jewish girl and her family were first imprisoned in a ghetto on the outskirts of town and later forced onto a cattle car that took them to the Pechora concentration camp in 1941.After a few failed attempts, Gorban, her mother, and younger brother managed to escape in 1942, and spent the rest of World War II living under false identities until they were liberated in 1944.Sitting in her apartment in Berlin, where she still lives on her own at age 89, Gorban vividly remembers the horrendous details of her time in the camp and during hiding from the Nazis who wanted to kill her only because she was Jewish.Holocaust survivor Assia Gorban, left, and her granddaughter Ruth Gorban pose during an interview with The Associated Press in Berlin, Germany, Monday, April 3, 2023. Here's his email: Get the latest, news, weather, sports and community events delivered right to your inbox! Hi Jaime. Here's a dilemma for you. My wife's cousin has two boys that are a couple of years younger than our sons. They recently fell on some hard times so my wife decided to put together a bag of kids clothes for them. Included in the bag of shirts, pants, shorts, etc was also underwear! I thought that was absolutely disgusting. Yes, I understand that they've been washed and disinfected but I feel like underwear is where you should draw the line with and-me-downs. My wife says I'm overreacting and that the underwear is in good condition and the boys can use it. What do you think? Disgusting and gross, or just one more piece of clothing to help out. Thanks so much.John PaulWell, for me personally, I would not want someone's hand-me-down underwear, nor would I give them...

“My partner says he’s a self-made player,” a club member told me. “He says he has never read a bridge book. He relies on intuition.”My friend said his partner’s seat-of-the-pants style didn’t work when he was today’s declarer. At 3NT, he took the queen of spades and led a club to finesse with dummy’s queen.“East took the king and returned a spade,” I was told. “My partner won, took the ace of clubs and led a third club. East got the jack and nine, and when hearts broke badly, partner took only eight tricks. What do you think of my `self-made’ partner?”“I would have to say he’s a product of unskilled labor,” I shrugged.BEST CHANCECorrectly handling single suit combinations is a learned skill for most players.
