NEW YORK (AP) — Wall Street is rising Wednesday ahead of a profit report that could show whether the frenzy this year around artificial-intelligence technology is deserved or overdone.The S&P 500 was 0.7% higher in morning trading and holding firmer for now amid what’s been a dismal August. CHICAGO — U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) has introduced a bill to keep companies from dumping plastic pellets into waterways.If passed, the Plastic Pellet Free Waters Act would require the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to prohibit the discharge of plastic pellets and other pre-production plastic into waterways from facilities and sources that make, use, package, or transport pellets, according to a press release from the senator's office. DULUTH, Minn. — A cougar has been meandering around the area in recent days, captured by multiple video cameras, most recently in the northern neighborhoods of the city.Between video doorbell cameras, security cameras and trail cameras, not much happens around the city without it getting reported, said Kipp Duncan, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources conservation officer for eastern Duluth.Duncan has received multiple videos of the big cat. SHANDAKEN, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- On Monday, Forest Ranger Martin responded to the report of an injured hiker on Mount Tremper. The hiker told Ranger Martin over the phone that he was involved in an altercation with his hiking companion. Get the latest news, weather, sports and entertainment delivered right to your inbox! He claimed he escaped and believed he was "being hunted like in Predator". The hiker relayed that he twisted his ankle.Three additional Rangers responded with a six-wheeler. ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A teen faces criminal charges in connection with a recent toddler abduction in north St. Louis County that sparked an AMBER Alert. Prosecutors have charged Kendall White, 18, with child kidnapping, first-degree assault four counts of armed criminal action, and endangering the welfare of a child in the case. Police say the abduction happened during the early evening hours of 7:30 p.m. from a home in the 11200 block of Marbella Drive.
